Address Updates Requested Before 1099-R Mailing

Article

At the end of January 2025, SCERS will mail 1099-R forms to those members who received a distribution of income from SCERS in 2024 due to one or more of the following distribution types:

  • Pension payments
  • Cash-out of contributions and interest payments
  • Death benefit payments
  • Alameda correction payments

Additionally, even if a member rolled over their distribution to a tax-deferred account, such as a 457 or a 401k, they would also receive a 1099-R form because rollover distributions must be reported, even if the transaction is tax-free.

If you expect to receive a 1099-R form and have had an address change in 2024, please provide us with your updated address. Active members should make address changes with their employers. Retired members and beneficiaries can update their information via the MySCERS member portal, and deferred members can obtain a Member’s Affidavit from the SCERS website or request a digital (DocuSign) version by calling SCERS at (916) 874-9119.
