SCERS welcomes the appointment of Robert Aguallo, Jr. to the SCERS Board, who will be sworn in at the August 17th meeting.

Mr. Aguallo has an extensive background in public service, pension fund administration, and the management of retirement benefit programs, financial systems, and complex investment portfolios. His most recent experience was as director and founding member of Golden Pacific Bancorp, and as a managing partner with the private equity fund Cardinal Americas.

Prior pension system experience includes five years as a general manager with the Los Angeles City Employees Retirement System, and 14 years with CalPERS where he served as a chief financial officer and chief operations officer. He also held executive roles in the management of state government budgeting systems in several agencies.

Mr. Aguallo comes with a long list of community service, including his current directorship of Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy.

Mr. Aguallo graduated from UC Davis with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science.
